What visitors mention
Turner Road Reserve is a Bayside City Council off-leash area in Highett, part of the wider Highett Reserve, offering an open grassy oval for dogs to run and socialise. The catch that decides whether it suits you: the off-leash oval is unfenced, so your dog needs reliable recall.
The rules. Off-leash is permitted on the designated oval, which is unfenced, and dogs must stay under effective voice control with a lead carried at all times. Dogs must be on-leash in the car park, near the playground, and within 20 metres of play equipment, barbecues, sporting events or public gatherings. Some ovals facing Turner Road are on-leash, so check the council signage on arrival to be sure which area you are on. Clean up after your dog; bins are provided.
What's there. Water taps with dog bowls, waste bins, picnic tables and toilets at the rear of the pavilion. It is a flat, open grassy space that can get muddy or worn in patches after rain. Free on-site parking is available and the reserve is wheelchair accessible.
Getting there. Access is via Turner Road, just off the Nepean Highway, with free parking at the reserve that can get tight at peak times. Highett Station is a short walk or quick local bus trip away if you are coming without a car.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the calmest. The social peaks are roughly 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm on weekdays and across the weekend, when parking is tightest and the oval busiest. Good for dogs with solid recall that enjoy a social run; more cautious owners may prefer the off-peak windows.
