Farm Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

A long, fully fenced linear off-leash park running roughly 500 metres off Brampton Street in Cheltenham. The shape is the feature: a central walking track with grass and shade either side, so you and the dog can cover ground together rather than stand and watch. Popular with locals and well run by the City of Kingston.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash at all times inside the fenced area, under effective voice control. Pick up after your dog. Latch the gates behind you, there are three secure access points on the north, south and west sides.

What's there. Fresh water taps and bowls, poo bag dispensers and bins, benches for owners, and trees dotted along the run for shade. Generally well maintained, though the ground can get muddy or worn after rain.

Getting there. Main parking is on Brampton Street. There are also access points near the aged care facility on Centre Dandenong Road to the south and off Farm Road to the north. It is a short drive or walk from Cheltenham Station.

It is a genuine locals' favourite and gets busy after work and on weekends. For a calmer lap, aim for mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday. Because it is narrow and long, it works best as a moving walk rather than a sit-and-supervise park.
