The rules. Dogs may be off-leash inside the fenced enclosure only. Leads go on when you enter and exit, and across the rest of the reserve. Keep your dog under voice control and supervised, and pick up after them using the bins provided. Dogs in Victoria must be registered with the council and microchipped.

What's there. A double-gated fenced run of decent size, with a water fountain and dog bowl, several benches for owners and surrounding trees for natural shade. A playground and adult exercise gym sit in the wider reserve, outside the dog enclosure.

Getting there. Access and parking are off Warrigal Road or Oak Avenue, with Oak Avenue the easier approach. It is a short distance from Mentone station and reached off the Nepean Highway road network.

When to go. Quieter midweek and at midday; it picks up on weekday evenings and weekend mornings. A calmer window suits a nervous dog. If the park is closed for works, Southern Road Reserve in Mentone or Farm Road Reserve in Cheltenham are nearby alternatives.
