General Public Food Co - Marmion

General Public Food Co is the local hub on the Marmion Village shopping strip, running from early coffee through to wood-fired sourdough pizza at night, and it is set up for dogs out front. Between the footpath seating, the water bowls and the odd free dog wash event, this is one of the more actively dog-welcoming spots on Perth's northern coastal strip.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and footpath area out front, on lead and on the ground rather than on the chairs. Water bowls are commonly put out for visiting dogs, and the venue has run occasional free GP Dog Wash events for patrons, which are worth watching their social pages for. There is no fee and no fuss; the indoor space is for people.

The food and the vibe

Hand-stretched, stone-baked sourdough pizza is the signature, with brisket and tacos on the menu, tap beers on the list and gluten-free options available. Coffee starts at 6am daily, pizzas fire from 11:30am, and the kitchen runs through to about 9pm every day of the week, so it covers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a way most dog-friendly venues in the area do not. It is family friendly and busy on weekends, with a village-square feel that suits a settled dog.

Getting there and parking

The address is 21 Sheppard Way, in the heart of the Marmion Village strip. Free parking is on Sheppard Way and the surrounding streets, and the bus routes along West Coast Drive and Marmion Avenue put you within walking distance.

Close by with the dogs

Marmion Beach and Watermans Bay are minutes down the hill for an ocean walk, though for a designated off-lead beach session the Sorrento Beach dog off-leash area and the North Beach dog beach are the mapped options either side of the suburb. For an enclosed run, the Carine fenced dog park is a short drive inland. Marmion Village Coffee is in the same strip for the morning-after coffee.
