Lawley's Bakery Cafe

Lawley's Bakery Cafe at 113 Flora Terrace is a busy local bakery cafe in North Beach, a short stroll up from the coast, open seven days from 6am to 3pm. With sausage rolls, pies, muffins and a full all-day breakfast and lunch menu, it doubles as the coffee stop before or after a walk along the coastal path.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the large covered alfresco area out the front, which looks over Flora Terrace and holds up in most weather. Access is flat and level straight off the pavement, so it is easy with a lead, and water bowls are usually provided for visiting dogs. Bring a collapsible bowl on hot days anyway, and keep your dog in the outdoor area rather than heading inside to the counter.

The vibe

This is a family-friendly local rather than a destination brunch room, and the draw is the baking: sourdough, traditional breads, cakes and pastries alongside the cooked menu. Early mornings are the sweet spot if you want a table and a quiet start before the beach crowd arrives, with the ovens going from opening time.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Flora Terrace and the side streets nearby, though weekend mornings tighten up as the beach draws crowds. The cafe sits within easy walking distance of the coastal dual-use path, so you can fold it into a longer walk rather than driving in specially.

While you're out there

North Beach Dog Beach is close by for a pre- or post-coffee swim, and Charles Riley Memorial Reserve Fenced Dog Park gives you a fenced run in the same suburb. If the queue is out the door, Curious Cow Coffee Stand is the local fallback for takeaway.
