Charles Riley Memorial Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog park inside Charles Riley Memorial Reserve is a fully enclosed off-leash area in North Beach, managed by the City of Stirling. It is a solid pick for dogs still building recall, with secured gates and a moderately sized grassy run.

The rules. Off-leash play is allowed inside the fenced enclosure. Everywhere else in the reserve, dogs must be on-leash, so keep the lead on until you are through the gates and clip back on before you leave. There is one shared enclosure rather than separate small-dog and large-dog sections, so read the room before letting a shy dog off. Owners keep dogs under voice control at all times and clean up after them. Bins are provided, but carry your own bags in case dispensers are empty. Standard City of Stirling rules apply, meaning registered and vaccinated dogs.

What's there. The enclosure has water on-site, and the wider reserve adds benches, shaded picnic shelters, a large playground with softfall, barbecues and public toilets near the clubroom. There is ample free parking.

Getting there. The reserve sits off North Beach Road and Kitchener Street, a short distance from West Coast Drive. Bus stops on the West Coast Highway corridor are within walking distance, and local footpaths make it easy to reach on foot or by bike from around North Beach.

When to go. Sunday mornings and weekday evenings, especially Thursdays, are the busiest. For a quieter run with a nervous dog, aim for mid-morning on a weekday. Because the pen is compact, a busy session can feel crowded fast, so having the wider reserve to fall back on is handy.
