Toasted Carine

Toasted Carine is a relaxed local cafe on Almadine Drive, better known for its toasties and specialty coffee than for any fuss, with a community hub feel rather than a formal sit-down setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the park across the suburb makes it a natural post-walk stop.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area and on the footpath frontage, with tables on a paved area right beside the shops. Water bowls are often put out for dogs, and pets should stay on a lead throughout. The paved area is flat and easy to settle into, though it is open to the car park, so park your dog on the shop side of the table.

The toasties and the menu

The toasted sandwiches are the drawcard: the pastrami, ham and cheese and pulled beef toasties get named again and again in reviews, alongside a strawberry matcha that has become an order of its own, fresh salads and a well-regarded breakfast menu including almond croissants. Hours run 6am to 1:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 12:30pm on weekends, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch venue.

The cafe sits at 2/62 Almadine Drive, Carine, with free off-street parking directly out front and flat access from the car park to the outdoor tables. The fenced run at Carine Fenced Dog Park is a short walk or drive away for burning off energy before or after toasties, and Carine Regional Open Space adds longer paths around the lake.
