Cherokee Village Wangara

Cherokee Village is a leafy caravan and camping park at 10 Hocking Road, Kingsley, right on the Wangara border about 20 minutes north of Perth. It takes small to medium dogs on its caravan and RV sites, which makes it a straightforward base if you are touring Perth's northern suburbs with a van and do not want to board the dog elsewhere.

Dogs at the Cherokee Village

Dogs are welcome on the caravan and RV sites, subject to approval when you book, but there is a strict no-pet policy inside the park's cabin accommodation. Where dogs are accepted, they must be kept on a leash or tethered at all times within the grounds and must not be left unattended on site. There is no published pet surcharge, so ask about any pet conditions when you book - call the park on 08 9409 9039 to confirm site availability and current rules.

Worth knowing

Powered sites start from $50 a night and fit a caravan, a single vehicle and a soft annex, with power and treated bore water hookups. The park has a heated in-ground pool, a children's playground, a camp kitchen and clean laundry and amenities blocks. Check-in for powered sites is from 10:30am and check-out is strictly by 10am. The park rates well for cleanliness and has a green, suburban feel rather than a resort one.

Getting there and parking

The park sits off Wanneroo Road on the Kingsley-Wangara boundary, an easy run from the Mitchell Freeway. You park at your own site, so the van and the dog's spot are one and the same.

Close by with the dogs

Once the van is set up, Kingsway Fenced Dog Park and Edgar Griffiths Dog Park both give your dog a proper off-lead run a few minutes away, and the Lake Goollelal circuit is a good on-lead walk. For dinner out, The Kingsley Tavern is the local pub option.

Max: I get a site, not a cabin, and the lead stays on in the park, but the fenced dog park down the road makes up for it.
