Village Coffee

Village Coffee is a small neighbourhood cafe in the Marmion Village Shopping Centre on Sheppard Way, the sort of local where the baristas know the regulars and a leashed dog at an outdoor table is part of the furniture. It opens early, from 6am on weekdays and 6:30am on weekends, and closes mid afternoon.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating in the shopping centre courtyard outside the cafe. Keep them leashed and settled beside your table rather than on chairs. Water bowls are usually put out for visiting dogs, but ask at the counter if you do not spot one. The courtyard is compact and calm, so it suits dogs that are happy lying still while you work through breakfast.

Max: order the blueberry muffin. It comes out warm, and the crumbs are worth the wait.

Worth knowing

The menu covers the breakfast staples: poached eggs, smashed avo and toasties, with chai lattes and pastries for the counter crowd. Weekend service finishes at 2pm, earlier than most suburban cafes, so plan a late-morning visit accordingly. Sunday and weekday mornings are the busy stretches.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Shop 1a, 19 Sheppard Way, just off West Coast Highway in Marmion. The shopping centre car park is free and the spots closest to the cafe fill first, so if you are arriving mid-morning on a weekend, take the first bay you see rather than circling.

Close by with the dogs

Pair coffee with a walk: North Beach Dog Beach is a few minutes south for an off-leash swim, and Charles Riley Memorial Reserve has a fenced dog park if your dog would rather run than paddle. Next door in the same centre, General Public Food Co takes over where the coffee stops, opening early for brunch and rolling into pizza later.
