The Hold

The Hold is a nautical, galleon-themed bar and restaurant on Sydney Road, just off the Corso and a few minutes from Manly Wharf. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, so it works as a stop after a beach or wharf walk.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor and footpath dining areas, and the crew is known to bring out water bowls. The themed indoor dining room is for people and certified assistance dogs only. Keep your dog leashed and settled under the table so it stays clear of passing staff and foot traffic.

Good to know. It is known for tall gourmet burgers, including a signature stack held together with a dagger, plus a broad craft beer, spirits and cocktail list. The room is lively and themed rather than quiet.

Getting there. It is about a 3 minute walk from Manly Wharf, served by the Sydney and fast ferries and local buses. Paid parking is nearby at the Central Avenue and Whistler Street car parks.

Nearby with the dog. The pedestrian Corso runs down to Manly Beach for an on-leash stroll, and the coastal path toward Shelly Beach has water views. The main surf beach is off-limits to dogs, so keep to the promenade.

Come earlier in the evening or on a weekday for a calmer footpath table. Good for a hearty feed with a confident dog that copes with a busy strip.
