Hinkler Dog Park in North Manly is a fully fenced off-leash area at 300 Pittwater Road, with direct access to a shallow tidal lagoon where dogs can swim. That combination of secure fencing and natural water access is the single reason to make the trip.

The rules. Dogs may run off-leash only inside the fenced area. The surrounding Lagoon Park, including the sports fields and playground, is strictly on-leash. Keep an eye on the fence line so your dog does not slip out into those on-leash areas. Dogs must remain under effective control at all times.

What is there. A grassy fenced space with a few picnic tables, benches, and drinking water bubblers. The lagoon creek entry is shallow, making it a reliable spot for dogs to cool down and paddle. Waste bags are provided on site but bring your own in case the dispensers run empty. A community bike and skateboard track sits immediately next to the dog park, which is worth noting if your dog is reactive to fast-moving wheels.

Getting there. Free street parking is available on Pittwater Road, alongside a limited dedicated car park that fills quickly during peak periods. Multiple Northern Beaches bus routes service Pittwater Road, stopping within a short walk. You can also reach the park on foot or by bike via the shared path running from Queenscliff to Manly along the lagoon.

Nearby with the dog. The wider Hinkler Park reserve surrounds the fenced dog area and is a pleasant on-leash walk if your dog still has energy. For a post-walk coffee a short drive away, Gusto on the Green in Balgowlah has outdoor seating where well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the quietest window. The park gets busy on weekends from late morning through the afternoon, and weekday afternoons peak around 5pm when the after-work crowd arrives. Sunday evenings are also a quieter bet. Good for sociable, water-loving dogs who are steady around distractions.
