Las Palmas Manly

Las Palmas is a Mexican garden bar and taqueria on West Esplanade near Manly Pavilion, run by The Boathouse Group. It is an open-air harbourside venue with tacos, share plates and a long margarita list, and the garden area is where dogs are welcome. Opening days are limited: Friday from 4pm, Saturday from midday and Sunday from midday, with Monday to Thursday closed.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the outdoor garden and terrace seating. Interior dining areas stay off limits under standard NSW food rules. It is a lively venue, especially on weekend afternoons, so a settled dog that is happy around crowds and music will have the better time; ask about dog-friendly seating when you book. Bring your own water bowl as none is guaranteed.

Max: this one is a night-out venue, not a quiet lunch. I do best here on a Sunday afternoon session when the crowd is mellow and there is floor space under a garden table.

Getting there and parking

Las Palmas sits on West Esplanade, a short flat walk from Manly Wharf, which makes the ferry an easy option from the city. Street parking on West Esplanade is limited and busy; paid parking is available near the wharf and in the council car parks nearby.

Worth knowing

The energy runs high with DJ sets and live music at times, and QR-code ordering keeps table service light. Dogs are prohibited on most harbour and ocean swimming beaches in the area, including the sand at Little Manly, so plan beach time around the designated spots instead.

Close by with the dogs

The Manly Off-leash Dog Beach is the local spot for a proper run, and LM Graham Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Fairlight is a short drive away. The West Esplanade foreshore path past the venue is a good on-lead leg-stretch, and Ripples Little Manly covers coffee near the harbour side.
