Inglewood Inn

The Inglewood Inn is a pub dating back to 1857 at 1931 North East Road, Inglewood, about 30 to 40 minutes north-east of Adelaide through Tea Tree Gully. It runs as a bistro-style restaurant rather than a counter-meals pub, and the draw for dog owners is the outdoor Beer Deck, which looks over the surrounding hills and is where the four-legged guests are seated.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor areas, principally the Beer Deck and balcony seating, with shade and water bowls generally available. The on-lead rule applies at all times and dogs are expected to stay settled near your table and cope politely with other patrons and visiting dogs. Indoor dining rooms and the indoor bar are off limits, in line with standard South Australian food regulations.

The vibe

The kitchen works with local South Australian produce and is known for its schnitzels, gnocchi and steaks, with a large range of South Australian gins, craft beer on tap and Adelaide Hills wines behind the bar. The inn also hosts weddings and functions, so the deck can be busy or partly reserved on event days. It trades Wednesday to Sunday from 11am and closes Monday and Tuesday; check current hours before you drive out.

Getting there and parking

There is on-site parking, but it fills on weekends when hills visitors and wedding guests converge. The surrounding roads make for scenic country driving, with Gumeracha and Kersbrook close enough to tack on a walk before lunch.

In the same small township, Finlay & Sons covers the coffee-and-breakfast end of the day with dogs out front, and Bottle Shock in Gumeracha is a short hills drive away if you want a second stop. Golden Grove Fenced Dog Park on the way out of town gives your dog a proper run before you settle them on the deck.
