Finlay & Sons

Finlay & Sons is the family-run brunch cafe at 917 Beaufort Street that Inglewood locals queue for on weekends, and it is an easy choice with a dog: the whole street frontage is alfresco seating, and dogs are welcome across it. It opens early, closes mid-afternoon, and trades on breakfast classics done properly.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco and footpath seating, which runs along the street front. Staff regularly bring a water bowl out as soon as dogs sit down, and there is a takeaway coffee window if you are keeping walking with the lead in hand. Weekend mornings fill the footpath, so arrive early for a table with breathing room.

Pepsi: the takeaway window is underrated. Coffee in hand, breakfast roll on the way, and the whole of Beaufort Street becomes your cafe.

Worth knowing

Doors open at 6:45am daily, with the kitchen wrapping up around 2:15pm (earlier on Sundays). The hash brown benny is the signature, alongside eggs benedict, french toast and a thick-cut bacon roll, with gluten-free and vegan options on the menu. Expect a busy, casual room and a steady strip vibe rather than quiet corners.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on the Beaufort Street strip in Inglewood, a short drive north of the city. Free street parking is usually findable on Beaufort Street and the residential side streets, and buses run along the strip from the city and Mount Lawley.
