Inglewood Fenced Dog Park

The Inglewood Fenced Dog Park is the City of Stirling's enclosed off-leash run at Hamer Park in Mount Lawley, on the Inglewood oval at the corner of Central Avenue and Stancliffe Street. Fully fenced with a double-gate entry, a big grassed field and dedicated digging sandpits, it is a dependable all-weather session a couple of minutes off the Beaufort Street strip.

The dog setup

Stay on lead until you are through the double gates, then it is off-leash inside the fence. Council rules are standard but enforced: dogs registered and microchipped, no more than two dogs per owner, effective recall before you take the lead off, supervision the whole time, and waste in the bins provided. A smaller separate fenced section sometimes hosts the smaller or timid dogs, and jumping logs and basic agility obstacles give the park more shape than most ovals. Water stations and bowls are on site, with bag dispensers at the entry.

Worth knowing

All sizes share the main run, so a reactive dog can find the busy periods full-on; council guidance is blunt about removing any dog that is not coping. Lighting is limited, so this is a daylight park. Toilets and the main Hamer Park car park sit at the pavilion alongside, including accessible parking and entrances. Watch children closely in any dog park, per the city's own advice.

Max: if your dog is unsure in a pack, go mid-morning on a weekday. The after-work rush and both weekend mornings are when the main run gets crowded.

Getting there and parking

The address is 2 Stancliffe Street, just off Beaufort Street, with ample free parking in the Hamer Park car park right beside the fence. Buses run along Beaufort Street within an easy walk, which makes this one of the more transit-friendly fenced parks in Perth's inner north.

When to go

Mid-morning on a weekday is the calm window. Tuesday and Thursday evenings and weekend mornings run busiest, and summer afternoons can be hot on an open oval, so aim for early or shaded corners of the field.
