Inglewood Fenced Dog Park

The Inglewood Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, 24/7 off-leash area at Hamer Park in Mount Lawley, run by the City of Stirling. A double-gate entry, a big grassed run and dedicated sandpits make it a dependable local for a proper off-leash session close to Beaufort Street.

The rules. Keep your dog on lead until you are through the double gates, then it is off-leash inside the fence. Dogs must be under effective voice control and supervised at all times, and you must pick up after them. Any dog showing aggression should be removed. There is a smaller separate fenced area that is sometimes used for smaller or timid dogs.

What's there. Water stations and bowls, sandpits for digging, jumping logs and basic agility obstacles, a shaded gazebo and bench seating for owners. Free bag stations are on site. Lighting is limited, so it is best used in daylight. Toilets and parking are at the adjacent Hamer Park pavilion.

Getting there. The park is at 2 Stancliffe St, just off Beaufort Street. There is ample free parking in the Hamer Park carpark right beside the fenced area, with wheelchair-accessible parking and entrances. Buses run along Beaufort Street within walking distance.

Watch-outs. The park mixes dogs of all sizes in one main space, so a timid or reactive dog can find busy periods overwhelming. Supervise children closely when it is crowded.

Nearby with the dogs. Beaufort Street's dog-friendly cafes are minutes away for a coffee afterwards, with alfresco seating the norm along the strip.

Best in daylight and, for a calmer run, on a weekday outside the after-work rush.
