Chubby Boy Breakfast & Bar

Chubby Boy Breakfast and Bar is a small, bright cafe on the Beaufort Street strip in Inglewood, built around Japanese milk bread, fluffy pancakes and a serious matcha list. The sidewalk seating out front makes it a straightforward coffee stop for anyone walking the street with a dog.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the alfresco seating that spills onto the sidewalk, on lead and clear of the doorway into the small interior. Staff are friendly to visiting pups and the kitchen has been known to hand out dog treats. A water bowl is usually on offer, and there is enough street frontage that most setups stay clear of passing foot traffic.

Beaufort Street gets busy and warm through the middle of the day, so carry water for your dog even though bowls are usually available.

The vibe

The signature order is thick-cut shokupan toast with toppings like kaya or peanut butter and banana, alongside pancakes and the tonkatsu bacon and egg sando. The indoor room is small and cosy, which is why pets stay to the outside tables, and the counter rotates pastries and croissants depending on the day. Hours run 7am to 3pm every day of the week.

Getting there

The cafe sits at 3/861 Beaufort Street, with some onsite parking plus free timed street parking on the nearby residential avenues. Buses along Beaufort Street make it easy to reach without a car.

Close by with the dogs

Inglewood Civic Centre Gardens is a short walk for a stretch after brunch, and for an off-lead run the Inglewood Fenced Dog Park is just down the hill. Finlay and Sons and Monty's Fusions are fellow dog-welcoming stops further up the same strip.
