Asian Flavour House

Asian Flavour House sits out on Marina Pier at the northern end of the Glenelg foreshore, at Shop 6, 12 Holdfast Promenade. The draw for dog owners is the alfresco boardwalk terrace over the water, which is listed as dog friendly, with yachts in one view and the coast path running past the front door.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco sections only; the air-conditioned dining room inside stays dog free. The terrace is roomy and sits back from road traffic, but the promenade walkway gets steady foot traffic, so keep your dog on the lead and settled close to the table. Water for dogs is not confirmed on site, so bring your own bowl. If you have a larger dog or are arriving at peak dinner time, it is worth phoning ahead to land a good outdoor table.

The food

The menu spans Chinese, Thai and Malaysian cooking, and the kitchen runs lunch and dinner daily. Peking duck, laksa, salt and pepper squid, crispy beef and lemon chicken all appear regularly, and there is a multi-course banquet for longer sittings. It is a relaxed waterfront setting rather than fine dining, popular for late afternoons when the sun drops over the marina.

Getting there and parking

Paid parking is at the Marina Pier car park, with street parking along Adelphi Terrace and the larger beachside car parks behind the foreshore. From Jetty Road it is an easy walk along the coastal path with the dog, which keeps the whole trip on the leash-friendly side of the suburb.

Close by with the dogs

The Coast Park trail runs straight past the pier, north toward West Beach or south toward the Glenelg jetty, so a pre- or post-meal walk is built in. Coffee the next morning is easy too: Feed Jetty Road and Closer Coffee Shop are both back along the main strip, and Rosa Mexicano Glenelg is another dinner option in the same stretch.
