Cibo Espresso

Cibo Espresso sits at 15 Moseley Square, right at the beach end of Jetty Road in Glenelg, an Italian-style espresso bar with a big alfresco spread looking out over the foreshore and the jetty. The location is the point: the Glenelg tram stop and the sand are both on the doorstep, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor alfresco and footpath tables, which makes it a natural regroup point after a beach walk.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the square-facing alfresco tables; the interior is people only. It is counter service, so grab a table where you can keep an eye on the dog while one of you orders. Bowls are sometimes set out on the square but bring your own travel bowl to be sure. The setting is busy and tourist-heavy, especially on summer afternoons, so it best suits a dog that is relaxed around foot traffic, prams and gulls.

The menu

It runs the classic Cibo Italian template: the signature traditional espresso blend through cappuccinos, lattes and iced drinks, with the almond mocha and Vienna coffee as the regular favourites. The display cabinet is the other half of the draw, with a big gelato selection, cannoli, Italian cakes and fresh pastries, plus croissants and breakfast bites in the morning. For something savoury there are piadinas and panini, and the menu carries a solid run of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. Gelato in one hand and a leash in the other is the standard order here.

Getting there and hours

The Glenelg tram terminates at the end of Jetty Road, steps from the square, which makes this one of the easiest dog-friendly coffee runs in Adelaide without a car. Driving, there is metered and free street parking on the surrounding streets, with the Wilson Parking building on Colley Terrace as the covered option. Doors open at 6:30am daily, and the close runs from late afternoon into the evening depending on the day, so check the Cibo store page for current hours.

Close by with the dogs

The foreshore and jetty are right there for a leashed stroll, and the Glenelg North Dog-Friendly Beach a short walk up the coast is where your dog can actually get off-lead sand time. Check City of Holdfast Bay signage for the seasonal rules on the main beach.
