Coogee Common

Coogee Common is a farm-to-table restaurant and wine bar set in the 1894 former Coogee Hotel at 371 Cockburn Road, Coogee, just south of Fremantle, built around two acres of productive gardens that feed the kitchen. For dog owners the pitch is simple: a hyper-seasonal, paddock-to-plate dining room with dog-friendly outdoor seating that sits close to the garden beds, so a slow lunch with the dog under the table is the standard way to do it.

The dog setup

Dogs are permitted in the designated outdoor areas, including the courtyard and garden-adjacent tables, while the indoor dining room stays dog-free. Because outdoor tables are popular and allocations shift with the weather, mention the dog when you book so you are seated in the right zone. Bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one being out, and note the gardens are working food beds rather than a roaming space, so keep your dog leashed and settled at the table.

The vibe

The kitchen runs strictly paddock-to-plate: wood-fired organic breads, fresh oysters with native garnishes, market fish, shared plates and garden-harvest desserts, plus house-made botanical drinks. The grounds carry heritage plantings, including olive trees relocated from Gingin and Shiraz vines from Margaret River, and the venue sometimes runs complimentary garden tours showing the daily harvest. It trades from 11:30am daily, to 9pm most nights and 10:30pm Friday and Saturday, and bookings are strongly recommended for weekends.

Getting there and parking

There is an onsite car park plus surrounding street parking on Cockburn Road, and the lot fills fast for peak weekend lunch and dinner. Aim for the 11:30am opening or book ahead if you are arriving with a dog and want a specific table. The beach side of Cockburn Road is a two-minute cross away, which makes a pre-lunch or post-lunch walk easy.

Pair the meal with the coastline: North Coogee Dog Beach is a few minutes north for off-lead sand, the Coogee Dog Park covers a fenced run, and the Grant Reserve Walk gives you a coastal leg-stretch before lunch.
