Coogee Dog Park

There is no single fenced dog park at Coogee: off-leash exercise happens across a handful of Randwick City Council reserves, and the go-to open grassy run is Bardon Park on Mount Street. The dog setup

Bardon Park is a designated off-leash area open around the clock, and it is where most locals head for a proper run on grass. Trenerry Reserve, on the way towards Maroubra, offers a larger stretch of the same. Effective control applies even off-leash, so recall needs to be reliable rather than aspirational. One correction worth knowing before you go: Grant Reserve at the southern end of the beach is on-leash only, despite what some listings suggest, and dogs stay leashed along the coastal walkway. Dogs are banned from children's play areas, school grounds and food preparation areas throughout the council area.

Worth knowing

Randwick council requires dogs on public land to wear a collar with current registration and contact details, and handlers must clean up immediately. None of the Coogee reserves are fenced, so this network suits well-socialised dogs with steady recall; beachfront paths get busy with joggers and prams, particularly on weekends. Summer mornings are cooler and quieter before the beach crowd arrives.

Getting there and parking

Bardon Park sits on Mount Street a few blocks back from the beach, with kerbside parking in the surrounding streets that fills quickly on sunny weekends. Buses run along Coogee Bay Road and Arden Street, and the coastal walk connects the reserves if you are on foot.

While you're out there

After the run, the Grant Reserve Walk and the Coogee to North End Maroubra Beach stretch make good on-lead cool-downs. The Little Kitchen on Arden Street has a relaxed outdoor area for dogs, and X74 Cafe covers the coffee stop closer to the sand.
