Slipstream Brewing Social House

Slipstream Brewing Social House is the Sunshine Coast outpost of Brisbane's Slipstream Brewing, at Shop 31/8 The Avenue in the Birtinya town centre. It is a modern, lively brewery and bistro with a dedicated beer garden, and well-behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas while you work through a paddle of house brews.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the designated outdoor seating and beer garden areas, kept on-lead, and staff are accommodating with canine visitors, often bringing out water bowls. Indoors is off limits. If you want to guarantee a beer garden table rather than the outer seating, say so when you book online rather than chancing it at the door.

The beer and the food

The draw is the rotating tap list of Slipstream's craft beers, including their well-known mango beers, with tasting paddles, specialty cocktails, bourbons and wine alongside. The kitchen runs a seasonal bistro menu of share plates, grilled dishes and seafood, with the fish tacos and beef brisket tacos the standouts people keep coming back for. There is live music some nights and pinball for the tables that want a competition.

Getting there and parking

The venue sits on The Avenue close to Kawana Way, in the Stockland Birtinya precinct, with plenty of convenient parking around the shopping centre and a short walk from the surrounding Kawana Waters streets.

Nearby with the dogs

Burn the energy off before a long lunch: Viridian Park Dog Park is the local fenced option in Birtinya, and the Buddina Beach off-leash area is 5 to 10 minutes away for a proper sand run. For a leashed coastal leg-stretch, the Point Cartwright walkway follows the water out to the lighthouse. If one brewery in the region is not enough, Your Mates Brewing Co. in Warana is the other Sunshine Coast craft spot with outdoor dog seating.

When to go: weekend afternoons and live-music nights fill the beer garden first, so arrive early with a dog. Midweek lunch is the quiet version of the same room.
