Decisions Cafe

Decisions Cafe runs out of Shop 4/10 Capital Place in Birtinya's commercial precinct, open 7am to 2pm every day. It is a big, busy all-day brunch operation with portions that reviewers consistently call generous, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor patio, which makes it a standard stop on the Kawana dog-walking circuit.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in beside you on the patio, on lead and under control. This is one of the more attentive setups on the Sunshine Coast: staff bring out fresh cold water bowls and even keep dog treats on hand for visiting pups. There is no formal dog menu, but between the water and the treats your dog is looked after. Weekend brunch is the crunch time and the outdoor tables go first, so arrive early or aim for a weekday.

The menu

The eggs benedict is the house specialty, with a hollandaise that gets name-checked in reviews. Around it sits a huge menu: soft-serve acai bowls with house-made vegan and gluten-free granola, avo smash on sourdough, hefty burritos, Biscoff milkshakes, smoothies and iced chocolates. Vegan options are well covered. If you order the benedict, expect a plate that matches the hype.

Getting there and parking

Capital Place has its own surface parking directly in front of the cafe strip, with additional parking across the precinct off Innovation Parkway. The strip is step-free. Peak brunch fills the front bays, so leave a little slack.

Close by with the dogs

The fenced Viridian Park Dog Park on Viridian Circuit is a few minutes away, fully fenced and split into small and large dog areas with agility gear and a playground beside it. The Lake Kawana foreshore paths are on-leash under Sunshine Coast Council rules, good for a steady pre-brunch loop. For a longer day out, Bokarina Dog Beach is down the road for an off-leash swim, and Nurcha Kawana is the plant-based cafe alternative in the same precinct.
