Good to know. The pub is known for its smorgasbord-style buffet, sticky date pudding and generous salads, plus a sports bar with pokies and TAB for the humans. There is also a play area if you have kids in tow.

Getting there and parking. The hotel sits directly on Burwood Highway with a large free car park behind the building, so parking is usually easy even at busy times.

Nearby with the dogs. Ferntree Gully Picnic Area in Dandenong Ranges National Park is a five-minute drive for a proper walk, and Marie Wallace Reserve is close by for a quick leg-stretch before or after your meal.

When to go. A quieter lunch sitting outside of the buffet rush gives you and your dog the most room in the courtyard. Good for dogs that are relaxed around a bit of noise and foot traffic.
