Knox Park Fenced Dog Park

Knox Park Fenced Dog Park sits on the corner of Ferntree Gully Road and Bunjil Way in Knoxfield, sharing its boundary with the Knox Obedience Dog Club. Its two selling points are secure perimeter fencing and permanent agility equipment, which together give owners an enclosed space to train and run dogs that might otherwise be a flight risk.

The dog setup

Inside the fence there are open grass areas for full-pace running alongside agility gear: hurdles, weave poles and tunnels. Council supplies waste bags and bins on site, and seating is scattered around the perimeter so you can supervise comfortably. Entry runs through a double-gated system, and both gates need to be closed behind you before you release a dog. The park is open around the clock.

Owners must stay present and keep control of their dogs at all times, and any dog showing aggression should be taken out immediately. Use of the fenced area is at the owner's own risk, which is worth knowing if your dog is still learning its manners.

Worth knowing

The park sits on a natural drainage reserve, so it holds water. Winter and spring rain turns the ground soft and muddy, and Knox City Council can close the turf at short notice to protect it from compaction. Check recent weather before a wetter-months visit and keep a towel in the car. The busiest social windows are weekend mornings, with weekday afternoons the quieter bet.

Getting there and parking

A paved car park sits directly off Ferntree Gully Road and Bunjil Way. By public transport, buses along Ferntree Gully Road stop within walking distance near the Ventura depot. The Dandenong Creek trail corridor is close by if you want to extend the outing into a longer walk.
