Emerson Place Fenced Dog Park

Emerson Place Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a Knox City Council fenced dog park in Rowville, split into a large off-leash run plus a separate smaller enclosure for younger, smaller or timid dogs. There is also an all-abilities concrete path and a stick library, a nice touch for a suburban dog park.

The dog setup

The two enclosed zones are separated so active dogs and quiet dogs can play on their own terms, with a double-gate airlock entry, water taps and drinking fountains for dogs and people, and shaded seating around the perimeter. Landscaping with a dry creek bed and rock clusters gives the run some texture rather than plain lawn. The all-abilities concrete path reaches the seating, and the stick library runs on an honour system: borrow one, or drop a replacement in the box.

Worth knowing

Dogs stay on lead until you are safely inside the enclosure and go back on lead before you exit, with voice control required at all times. Any dog showing aggression is removed immediately, pick up and use the bins, children under 12 must be supervised, and professional training groups, alcohol and non-dog activities are not allowed inside the fence.

Max: use the double gate properly, close the first gate fully before opening the second, that airlock only works if both stay shut in sequence.

The vibe

Early weekday mornings and Wednesday evenings tend to be the busiest windows. Sunday mornings and Saturday evenings are quieter if you want the run to yourselves.

Getting there

The reserve is at 30 Braeburn Parade, Rowville, near the Wellington Road and Stud Road intersection, with free street parking nearby and Stud Road bus routes a short walk away. Wellington Village shopping centre sits directly across the road if you need supplies.

Close by with the dogs

Top Seeds Coffee is about 2.8 km away for a coffee stop with outdoor seating, and Spade 9 Cafe and Bar sits over at Wantirna South. For a longer leashed outing, the Dandenong Creek loop at Wantirna pairs well with a fenced session here.
