Spade 9 Cafe & Bar is a casual all-day cafe on Burwood Highway in Wantirna South, doing a solid trade in coffee and generous brunch plates, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you in the outdoor seating area only, leashed and close to the table. Indoor access is not on offer, so treat your visit as an outdoor one, which suits the sunny morning sessions the cafe does its best trade in.

Water for dogs on site is not confirmed, so bring a bowl and you will be covered regardless.

The vibe

Regulars come back for the cappuccinos, the chicken schnitzel sandwich and the cheesecake, and staff have a reputation for being welcoming that extends to the outdoor tables. It is an easy stop by car and central enough to build a walk-and-brunch loop around, and the outdoor tables catch the morning sun, so weekday mid-mornings are a comfortable time if you want a quiet table with the dog at your feet.
