The Windsor off-leash dog area covers the open, unfenced grass along the Kedron Brook floodway near Northey Street, the wider space that surrounds the separate fenced dog park next door.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective control at all times and are only permitted off-leash within the designated off-leash zone; stay on lead in the surrounding streets and paths. Clean up after your dog, and keep vaccinations current.

What's there. This is open floodway parkland rather than a fenced enclosure, so there's plenty of room to range but limited shade and no barrier between the off-leash zone and the brook. Bins are provided; bring your own water, since taps aren't guaranteed this far along the reserve.

Getting there. Reachable via Lutwyche Road or Windsor Road, with parking near the netball courts and adjacent park. The Kedron Brook bike path runs straight through, so it's an easy add-on for anyone already walking or riding the floodway.

Watch-outs. Being a floodway, the area is exposed and can get hot in summer with little natural cover, and mosquitoes are active near the water. It sits alongside Kedron Brook, so keep a stronger swimmer's dog in mind near the banks.

Best visited early morning or evening in warmer months, when the open ground isn't baking and the brook path is quieter.
