Victor Harbor Fenced Dog Park

Victor Harbor Fenced Dog Park is a council-run off-leash park on the corner of George Main Road and Oval Park Road, next to the Victor Harbor Recreation Centre. The headline number is 8,350 square metres of secure grass, split into separate yards for large and small dogs and open around the clock.

The dog setup

Both yards are fully fenced and off-leash inside the boundary, though your dog still needs to be under voice control and supervised the whole time. Use the small-dog side if your dog is timid or under about 10kg. Two dog water stations, waste-bag dispensers and bins are on site, and an open training and exercise area carries some agility fixtures. Grassy mounds and a shelter provide the shade, with seating if you are settling in for a while.

Worth knowing

Being an inland grass park, there is no beach access here; the famous Victor Harbor coastline is a few minutes away but covered by its own seasonal on and off-leash rules, so check signage before letting a dog loose near the sand. The park's size means dogs can genuinely stretch out, and it rarely feels cramped even in holiday season.

Max: two big fenced yards, water on tap and a 24-hour open gate. This is the safest leg-stretch stop on the south coast if your dog's recall is unreliable.

Getting there

Parking is easy, with ample spaces at the adjoining Recreation Centre car park off George Main Road. The park is walkable from Encounter Bay and Hayborough streets and a short drive from the Victor Harbor town centre along Pages Road.

For a full day out, Port Elliot Fenced Dog Park is the next stop down the coast, Yilki Store by the Encounter Bay foreshore and Qahwa Coffee Roasters in town both take dogs outside. The Victor Harbor Holiday Park welcomes dogs for overnight stays.
