Victor Harbor Holiday Park

NRMA Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park sits on the sand dunes at the end of Bay Road, with the beach a short walk from most sites, and it is one of the easier beach parks on the Fleurieu Peninsula to book with a dog: five dedicated pet-friendly cabins, pets welcome on designated camping sites at no charge, and a written policy that says exactly where dogs can and cannot go.

The dog setup

Cabin stays are limited to five designated pet-friendly cabins, some of which have a fenced-off verandah area for a secure outdoor space under supervision. Dogs also stay free on designated powered and unpowered sites. Cabin bookings carry a $15 per pet, per night fee, with a maximum of two pets per booking, and every pet must be declared when booking, then registered at check-in with a signed pet waiver.

Worth knowing

The rules apply across the whole park: dogs on a lead at all times, never left unattended, and kept out of communal areas including the pool, water park, camp kitchens, amenities blocks and reception. Those limits are worth weighing against the location, because the foreshore and the town's beach walking all start at the gate, and the leash rules here are stricter than some nearby parks.

Max: book the cabin with the fenced verandah, not just any pet-friendly one. It is the difference between supervising every toilet trip and having somewhere secure to set the lead down.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 19 Bay Road, Victor Harbor, on the seafront side of town and an easy drive south of Adelaide. Parking is at your cabin or site, and the town centre, cafes and the causeway to Granite Island are all within walking distance.

While you're out there
