McCracken Resort

McCracken Resort sits on the McCracken country club estate a few minutes inland from Victor Harbor's town centre, an 18-hole golf course property with a bistro, sauna, spa rooms and balconies over the fairways. It is one of the few resort-style stays on the Fleurieu Peninsula that takes dogs, and it now runs under the Discovery Parks banner alongside the nearby Victor Harbor Holiday Park.

Both large and small dogs are welcome, with the resort treating pets as part of the family. Pets stay in designated pet-friendly Studio Spa Rooms and selected apartments only, so you must pre-book a pet option rather than turning up with the dog and hoping. Confirm the nightly pet fee with the resort when you book, as it is not published on the site. Standard resort rules apply on the ground: leads, clean up, and no leaving the dog alone in the room while you play the front nine.

Worth knowing

The beach rules in Victor Harbor change with the season. From October to March, dogs are on lead between 10am and 6pm and can be off lead under effective control between 6pm and 10am; from April to September, beaches are off lead around the clock. Hindmarsh River and Inman River estuary dunes and Wright Island are on lead at all times to protect shorebirds. If you want a guaranteed run regardless of the clock, the fully fenced Victor Harbor Fenced Dog Park has separate large and small dog areas and is open 24/7.
