Augustus Estate Fenced Dog Park

Augustus Estate Fenced Dog Park on Scrub Hill Road is a purpose-built off-leash park in Urraween, a few streets back from the Hervey Bay bustle. Everything here is enclosed: full perimeter fencing, double-gated entries and separate runs for small and large dogs, so an energetic dog can be let off the lead without the usual supervision tension.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies inside the fenced enclosures only. Stay inside with your dog, keep it under effective control, and remove it on a lead if play turns aggressive. The ground is open grass with scattered shade trees, and the kit list covers the essentials: water taps, basic agility equipment, shaded seating for owners, and dog bag dispensers with bins for waste.

Worth knowing

This is a neighbourhood-scale park rather than a regional showcase, which is part of its appeal: weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are quiet, and it stays low-key next to the bigger Urraween Dog Park a few streets over. One practical note for Hervey Bay weather: the grass holds water after rain, so a towel in the car saves the seats.

Getting there and parking

The park sits just off Augustus Boulevard and Scrub Hill Road, reached via Urraween Road from either Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road or the Esplanade. Parking is available near the entrance. There is no direct public transport to the gate, so this is a car trip from anywhere outside Urraween itself.

Close by with the dogs

The larger Urraween Dog Park on Julie Anne Street is the natural alternate, and for a coastal finish the Scarness beach off-leash area puts the dog on the sand a short drive east. Henri's Gourmet Foods in Urraween is a local stop on the way home.
