Urraween Dog Park

Urraween Dog Park on Julie Ann Street is a fully fenced, council-run off-leash park in a quiet residential pocket of Hervey Bay, and its standout feature is the split: separate enclosures for big and small dogs mean nervy, older or tiny dogs can play without the boisterous crowd rolling through.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies only inside the fenced enclosures, which have double-gated entries to stop escapes on the way in or out. Fraser Coast Regional Council expects owners to stay with their dogs and keep effective control, and any dog showing aggression should be leashed and removed straight away. Dogs should be registered and up to date on vaccinations. Bag dispensers are on site, though bringing your own as backup is sensible.

The vibe

The park has open grass, basic agility equipment, a water fountain for dogs and shaded seating for owners, with free on-site parking at the gate. Regulars describe a friendly crowd and well-mannered dogs. Weekday mornings are the quietest visits; Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings draw the biggest packs. The park runs 24 hours, so an early lap in the cool beats both the heat and the crowd, and suits dogs that do better in a smaller, calmer group before the afternoon rush.

The park sits directly on Julie Anne Street, reached easily via Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road. There is no bus stop at the gate, so most visitors drive, and free on-site parking makes that simple.
