Urraween Dog Park

Urraween Dog Park on Julie Ann Street is a fully fenced, council-run off-leash park in a quiet residential pocket of Hervey Bay, with separate enclosures for big and small dogs so nervy or older dogs get a break from the boisterous crowd.

The rules. Off-leash only inside the fenced enclosures. Owners need to stay with their dog and keep effective control at all times, and any dog showing aggression should be removed straight away. Poop bags are supplied but bring your own as backup.

What's there. Double-gated entries stop dogs bolting on the way in or out, there is a water fountain for dogs, shaded seating for owners, basic agility equipment, and free on-site parking.

Getting there. The park sits directly on Julie Anne Street, reached easily via Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road. There is no dedicated bus stop at the gate, so most visitors drive.

Nearby with the dogs. Henri's Gourmet Foods, a short drive away in Urraween, allows dogs in its outdoor seating. Emeraldene Inn & Eco-Lodge, also in Urraween, is a pet-friendly stay if you're making a longer trip of it.

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit, with Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings the busiest. The park is open 24 hours, so an early lap in the cool is an easy way to beat both the heat and the crowd. Good for dogs that do better with a smaller, calmer group before the afternoon rush arrives.
