Boisdale Street Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a quiet, open neighbourhood reserve in Surrey Hills with wide grassed space and mature trees, good for fetch and casual socialising without the crowds of a bigger regional park.

The rules. This is a City of Boroondara reserve, so standard council rules apply. Dogs must stay under effective voice and hand control at all times. Keep your dog leashed until you are fully inside the off-leash boundary. A lead is required within 10 metres of the playground, and dogs are not permitted inside the playground itself. Within 30 metres of an organised sporting event, public meeting or an active barbecue area, dogs must also be back on lead. Pick up after your dog.

What's there. A tap and bowl for water, waste bins around the perimeter, park benches, and shade from established trees.

Getting there. The reserve is on Boisdale Street, Surrey Hills. Residential street parking is available right by the park. It's a short walk from either Surrey Hills or Chatham stations on the Lilydale/Belgrave line, and local buses also service the area.

Nearby with the dogs. Chatham Food Store on Canterbury Road has outdoor seating for a coffee with your dog after a walk, and The Old Garage in nearby Camberwell is a well-regarded dog-friendly cafe worth the short drive.

Midday is the quietest window if your dog prefers fewer distractions. Weekday mornings before 9am and evenings after 4:30pm are the busiest, with locals walking dogs before and after work.
