Damper Creek Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Damper Creek Reserve is a 13-hectare native bushland reserve running between Waimarie Drive and Park Lane in Mount Waverley, managed by the City of Monash. A creek and unsealed tracks wind through genuine bush in the middle of suburbia. The key point for dog owners: most of the reserve is on-leash, with only specific signposted off-leash zones, so read the signs before you unclip.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash only in the designated, signposted areas and must be on lead everywhere else in the reserve. Keep your dog leashed within 20m of the playground, even inside an off-leash zone. Effective voice or hand control applies at all times. This is a conservation reserve, so dogs must not chase or disturb native wildlife, and you must carry bags and bin the waste at the entrances.

The terrain. Unsealed tracks through bushland with a creek alongside, so expect muddy paws after rain and uneven footing in places. A small playground sits on the edge of the reserve.

Getting there. Informal street parking on Waimarie Drive and Park Lane, accessed from High Street Road or Waverley Road. It is a short walk from Jordanville Station on the Glen Waverley line.

Quietest on weekday mornings; busier weekend mornings and after work. Best for dogs who enjoy a calm bush walk on lead rather than a big open run.
