Heany Street Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Heany Street Reserve is a narrow off-leash strip in Mount Waverley, part of the Mount Waverley Linear Reserve managed by the City of Monash. It runs north to south with a central sealed path, grassy verges and mature trees, fenced along its long sides by the backs of residential properties. The defining feature is also the catch: the street ends are open, so this is a recall park, not a fully enclosed one.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash under effective voice or hand control. Keep your dog leashed within 20m of any playground, and carry a lead at all times. The open ends, particularly the southern end near Waverley Road, sit close to busy traffic, so dogs without reliable recall should stay on lead near the boundaries. Pick up after your dog and obey current Monash signage on site.

What is there. A flat, accessible concrete path good for everyday walks, a water tap with a bowl near the McLochlan Street end, bench seating and a waste bin with bags. Shade is limited and there are no public toilets.

Getting there. Parking is available at the southern Heany Street end. The reserve is an easy local walk but is not right beside a station.

Quietest mid-morning on weekdays; busier early morning and late afternoon when the neighbourhood walks its dogs. Good for a steady local stroll and social sniffs rather than a long off-leash run.
