Slacks Creek Off Leash Dog Park

The Slacks Creek Off Leash Dog Park, known locally as the Mabel Park fenced dog park, is a secure off-leash enclosure inside Mabel Park on Snowdon Street, Slacks Creek. It is a practical local run rather than a destination outing: get in, let the dog work, get on with the day.

The rules

Off-leash is for inside the fence only. Keep your dog leashed through the car park and on any paths in the broader Mabel Park, and once inside, maintain voice control and line of sight the whole visit.

Waste bags and bins are provided, and dogs showing aggression must be removed immediately, which is standard Logan City Council practice for its enclosed parks. A double-gated entry handles the comings and goings safely.

Max: Treat the gate as the switch. Leash on, through both gates, then unclip. Same in reverse on the way out, because the car park is where the uncontrolled encounters happen.

What's there

The enclosure has lighting for early or late visits, bench seating and water stations, with free on-site parking near the entrance. The wider Mabel Park adds playgrounds, courts and open space around it, so a family split between dog time and kid time works.

Getting there

From the M1 Pacific Motorway, exit at Daisy Hill Road and reach the park via Snowdon Street. Logan City buses stop on the nearby roads with a short walk in, and the Hyperdome Shopping Centre is roughly 4 to 5km away for supplies on the way.

For coffee after the run, Extraction Artisan Coffee welcomes dogs in its outdoor spaces, with Portal Cafe and The Wrecking Brew also in Slacks Creek.

For an on-lead bushwalk, Daisy Hill Conservation Park nearby keeps dogs on designated trails. Monday afternoons and early weekday mornings are the quiet windows, while Sunday mornings and Friday afternoons draw the biggest turnouts.
