Murrowong dog park

Murrowong is a fully fenced off-leash park at Murrowong Court in Rosebud, open around the clock with a double-gated airlock entry. It is the quieter, more natural of Rosebud's fenced dog parks: a mix of open grass and native scrub that gives dogs real ground to sniff rather than a bare oval.

The dog setup

Off-lead applies inside the fence only. Keep the dog leashed until you are through both gates, re-clip the moment you leave, and stay out of the adjacent playground: under Mornington Peninsula Shire rules a dog must stay on lead within 20 metres of playgrounds, BBQs and picnic areas.

The secure gating makes this a sound pick for dogs that are runners, but effective control is still required inside, and dogs showing aggression need to be leashed and taken out.

What is there

Full perimeter fencing with the double-gated entry, a water tap with a drinking bowl in the northwest corner, shaded seating, and waste bins with bag dispensers at the gates. The terrain is grass and low native scrub rather than a mown oval, a children's playground sits just outside the fence in the on-lead part of the reserve, and shade comes from the mature trees along the scrub side rather than built structures.

Pepsi: the scrub edge is the win here. A quiet fenced run with actual smells to investigate beats a plain lawn for most dogs.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at Murrowong Court, Rosebud 3939, with street parking near the entrance and easy access from the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. It is a residential pocket a few minutes off the Point Nepean Road strip, so expect a local neighbourhood feel rather than signage and crowds, with foot traffic building after school and on weekend mornings.

Close by with the dogs

Rosebud has two other fenced options if you want variety: Lawson Park and Woodvale Reserve. The Rosebud Beach dog off-leash area adds water to the day, and Zarb and Ru on the Point Nepean Road strip handles the coffee stop.
