Woodvale Reserve Fenced Off Leash Dog Park

Woodvale Reserve's fenced dog park sits off Woodvale Grove in Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula, and its shape is its whole appeal: a long, narrow triangular run roughly 280 metres end to end, fully fenced and built for straight-line sprints rather than milling about on a small lawn.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with a double-gated airlock entry, so unclip only once you are inside and both gates are shut behind you. Off-leash applies inside the fence alone; the surrounding Woodvale Reserve is on-leash, so re-clip on the way out. There is a water tap in the park, established trees casting shade over parts of the run, benches around the perimeter and bins for waste.

Because the run is long and narrow, fetch travels the full length, which is the point. Keep an eye on the line of flight when it is busy so your throw does not cut through another dog's game, and walk the bushy edges if your dog prefers sniffing to sprinting.

Worth knowing

The ground mixes open grass with native scrub, which keeps noses busy but can hide the odd bindi or burr over summer. The park has no separate small-dog section, so cautious dogs do better here at quiet times. Mornington Peninsula Shire signage at the gate carries the current conditions if anything has changed.

Getting there and parking

The entry is on Woodvale Grove a couple of blocks back from Point Nepean Road, with free street parking beside the gate. From the Rosebud shopping strip it is a five-minute drive or a reasonable walk. Buses run along Point Nepean Road if you are coming without a car.

Close by with the dogs

The Lawson Park Fenced Dog Off Leash Park over on Leon Avenue is the other secure option in Rosebud, and the Rosebud Beach Dog Off Leash Area adds a swim to the day. For coffee afterwards, the Waterfall Gully Cafe and Nursery welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables.
