Woodvale Reserve Fenced Off Leash Dog Park

The short version. Woodvale Reserve is a fully fenced off-leash park on Woodvale Grove in Rosebud, laid out as a long, triangular block of open grass mixed with scrubby bush. Double-gated entry and the length of the run are the selling points: a secure space that suits dogs who like to stretch out on a straight sprint, with enough bush edges to keep the nose busy.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash inside the fenced enclosure only, and on-leash in the surrounding reserve. Close the gates behind you, keep your dog under effective control, and use the bins for waste. The usual Shire leash buffer around playgrounds and picnic equipment applies if any sits alongside the reserve, so re-clip on the way out.

What's there. A water fountain, several benches around the perimeter, free parking near the entrance, and natural tree shade in patches. The mix of open grass and native scrub gives dogs somewhere to explore beyond a plain lawn.

Getting there. Parking is near 21 Woodvale Grove, reached via local Rosebud streets. It's a short drive or a reasonable walk from Point Nepean Road, which is where the nearest bus routes run.

Nearby with the dogs. Rosebud has several dog-welcoming cafes with outdoor seating for after the park, and the foreshore off-leash beach and its seasonal times are a short drive away.

When to go. Weekday mornings from around 7am to 9am, or the early-afternoon lull, are the quietest. Late afternoon and weekends fill up, and because the park is narrow it can feel busier than the numbers suggest. Good for active dogs that need room to run.
