What visitors mention
Pier Street Reserve is a small, fully fenced off-leash park on Pier Street in Dromana, next to the pedestrian bridge over the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. It is a functional, grassy square, useful as a safe run for a dog that needs a break on a Peninsula trip rather than a destination in its own right.
The rules. Dogs are off-leash inside the fenced area and must be under effective voice control. Entry is through double gates, so close each one behind you before letting go of the lead, especially with a bolter. There are no waste bins on-site, so bring your own bags and take them with you.
What's there. A single fenced grassy area, roughly 50 by 50 metres. Shade is limited to a couple of trees in one corner, so it gets full sun elsewhere. There is no water tap, so bring water and a bowl. Seating is basic, and the area is very dark at night.
Watch-outs. The freeway bridge sits right beside the park and traffic noise is constant, which can unsettle nervous or noise-sensitive dogs. Keep that in mind if your dog spooks easily.
Getting there. It is at 77 Pier Street, easily reached from the Nepean Highway or the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, with free street parking nearby. Local Dromana bus routes run along Point Nepean Road, but this is really a driving stop.
Nearby with the dogs. Laneway Espresso on Point Nepean Road has dog-friendly laneway seating a short distance away, and Dromana Beach is a walk from the reserve, where seasonal on-leash and off-leash rules apply on the sand.
Quietest early morning and in the evening, which also suits shy dogs. A practical leg-stretch stop rather than a long visit.
