What visitors mention
Prospect Vale Dog Park on Pitcher Parade is one of Launceston's most popular off-leash spots, with two fully fenced enclosures plus agility obstacles for dogs that want more than a run around the oval.
The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced enclosures as long as they answer to voice control. Step outside the fencing, including onto Pitcher Parade itself, and it is lead-on. Bring your dog vaccinated and comfortable meeting others, since the enclosures get social fast.
What's there. Two secured fenced areas separate the action, there is a dedicated on-lead walking trail alongside, shaded seating for owners, free poop bags most days and wheelchair-friendly paths throughout.
Getting there. The park sits off Pitcher Parade, easiest reached via Westbury Road or the Country Club Avenue intersection. Free street parking runs alongside the park. Bus routes service Prospect Vale generally, but expect a short walk from the main road to the gate.
Watch-outs. The ground turns muddy after rain, especially just outside the fenced sections, so old shoes are worth it in winter.
Nearby with the dogs. Cafes around the Prospect Vale Marketplace have outdoor seating that is generally dog-friendly, and Toast Cafe in neighbouring Prospect is worth the short drive. Country Club Tasmania is the closest premium accommodation, though confirm their pet policy before booking.

Weekday evenings and Monday afternoons are the quiet windows, while Saturday and Sunday mornings bring the social rush. Good for confident dogs that enjoy meeting others, and for owners who want agility obstacles without a dedicated training centre.
