Chris Street Fenced Dog Park

Chris Street Fenced Dog Park, officially the Lomond Views Private Open Space, is a fully fenced off-leash field in Prospect Vale run by Meander Valley Council, with separate sections for large and small dogs.

The rules. Off-leash is fine inside the fenced area, entered through a double-gated system that stops dogs slipping out while you're getting organised. Owners are expected to watch their dog's comfort level around others and clean up after them.

What's there. A water fountain, shaded seating, poop bags most visits and free nearby parking. There are no lights, so this is a daylight-hours park, and it is not set up for wheelchair access.

Getting there. The park is off Chris Street in Prospect Vale, close to the highway and an easy drive from central Launceston. Public transport options right at the gate are limited, so driving is the practical option.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes at the Prospect Vale Marketplace offer outdoor seating and are generally considered dog-friendly, though it is worth calling ahead to confirm. Launceston, about ten minutes away, has a wider spread of pet-friendly accommodation if you need to stay over.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest, while weekday evenings after 4pm and weekend late mornings get busy. Good for dogs that need a large-vs-small split, and for owners who want a secure double gate rather than a single entry point.
