Pooraka Small Dog Park

Pooraka Small Dog Park is a fenced, off-leash enclosure set aside for small and timid dogs, part of the wider Pooraka Triangle Park precinct near the corner of Montague Road and Bridge Road in Pooraka. The 35cm shoulder-height limit is the whole point: large, boisterous dogs stay out, and smaller ones get a calmer run.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with a double-gate entry, so close one gate before you open the other. Your dog must measure 35cm or less at the shoulder to be in this zone. Council rules ask you to stay inside with your dog and supervise the whole visit, keep the dog responsive to voice commands even off lead, and clean up using the poo bags provided. Leave the high-value treats and loose toys in the car; they are the usual trigger for tension between dogs who have just met.

The ground is grassed with some shaded trees and a few obstacles to potter around. There is a shelter with seating and tables, and a water station for dogs who have run themselves warm.

Worth knowing

The park can turn muddy after rain, so time your visit around dry weather if a clean dog matters. There is only one main shelter and it fills fast in rain or heat. Early mornings and late afternoons draw the biggest crowds, especially on weekends; a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon is the quiet window.

Getting there and parking

The park sits near Montague Road and Bridge Road, close to the caravan park, and is reachable via Main North Road, Montague Road or Bridge Road. Parking is free and on site. Adelaide Metro buses run along both connecting roads if you are coming without the car.

Close by with the dogs

For bigger dogs in the family, the Pooraka Triangle Dog Park in the same precinct is the larger option, and the wider reserve adds walking space around the wetlands.
