Baldwin dog park

Baldwin dog park is the off-leash exercise area inside Baldwin Park, near the corner of Cotman Way and Sudbury Drive in Pimpama on the northern Gold Coast. It sits within a larger suburban reserve with football fields and a playground, and the dog space itself is compact and mostly shaded, which suits small to medium or lower-energy dogs better than big breeds after a long sprint.

The dog setup

Dogs must be leashed everywhere outside the marked off-leash zone and are prohibited from the children's playground area. City of Gold Coast rules require the handler to be at least 17 and able to control the dog, dogs to wear current registration tags, and waste to be bagged and binned. There is no dedicated tap or bin right at the dog area, so bring a water bottle and bowl and carry bags to the bins near the playground. Some visitors have reported the gate not latching reliably, so hold it and check as you enter.

Worth knowing

Inside the dog space there is shaded bench seating, an open patch for fetch and a walking path through the trees. Because the yard is small, larger or reactive dogs do best in the calm windows: Sunday mornings, Tuesdays and mid-week evenings, rather than busy weekend afternoons. The wider reserve has picnic shelters, so a family group can split time between the playground and the dog run.

Max: give the gate a firm pull on your way in. A latch that mostly closes is not a fence, and this yard is small enough that a loose dog is on the street in seconds.

Getting there and parking

The park is reached off the M1 at Exit 49, following local roads towards Cotman Way, with free untimed street parking alongside. Pimpama station on the Gold Coast line is the nearest rail option, a short drive away.
