Rufous Whistler Park on Matthews Crescent is a fully fenced off-leash dog area inside a larger community park in Pimpama, open 24 hours. The draw is a secure double-gated run with a bit of scrubby wilderness for sniffing alongside open grass for throwing a ball, so dogs get variety without the escape risk of an open oval.
The rules. Off-leash applies only inside the fenced enclosure - keep your dog leashed until both gates are shut behind you. Dogs must stay under effective voice control, and they are not permitted in the children's playground, skate park or basketball areas of the wider reserve. All dogs need a City of Gold Coast registration tag, and you are expected to pick up after them.
What's there. The enclosure has double-gate entries, mature shade trees, some dog agility equipment and a covered pavilion nearby for owners. There is a water tap and bowl near the entry, but supply inside the main run can be limited, so bring your own water on warm days.
Getting there. The park sits on Matthews Crescent with street parking alongside. It is a short drive off the M1, and while local buses serve the Pimpama area, most people drive in with the dog.
Watch-outs. The grass turns muddy and worn after Queensland rain, and the enclosure is large enough that small children can get bowled over by bigger dogs at speed.

Quietest on weekday mornings and Sunday evening through Monday. Friday nights and Saturday mornings are the busiest. Late afternoons on other weekdays are lively but manageable.
