Vennor Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The short version. Vennor Reserve is a fully fenced, 24/7 off-leash dog park at 9-11 Vennor Drive, Ormeau, with a large main run and a separate small-dog pen. Established trees give it real shade, which matters more than most things on a Queensland afternoon.

The rules. The fenced area is open around the clock, so keep the noise down late at night for the houses backing onto the reserve. Stay inside the enclosure with your dog and keep them under voice control. If your dog gets snappy, leash up and step out. Bag and bin as you go.

What's there. A dedicated small or timid-dog pen, agility equipment for dogs that need a job, shaded seating and picnic shelters so you can actually sit while they run, and water taps with bowls. Bring your own bottle in summer anyway, taps here can run dry.

Getting there. It sits just off the M1 at the Ormeau exit, then a short run through local streets to Vennor Drive. Street parking alongside the reserve is usually easy. Ormeau Station on the Gold Coast line is the nearest rail, though it's a moderate walk or a quick drive from there.

When to go. Busiest around 6:30 to 8:30am and again 4:30 to 6pm as locals bookend the workday. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is the quiet window. In the hotter months, go early or late and skip the middle of the day entirely.
