Vennor Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Vennor Reserve is a fully fenced, 24/7 off-leash dog park on Vennor Drive at Ormeau, on an elevated block in the northern Gold Coast with established trees and a view. The two-enclosure layout, a big main run plus a separate pen for small or timid dogs, is what sets it apart from the single-pad parks along the corridor.

The dog setup

The main fenced field handles the big energy, while the smaller dedicated pen gives tiny, elderly or easily overwhelmed dogs a calmer space. Off lead applies inside the enclosures only; dogs stay on leash through the rest of the reserve under City of Gold Coast rules, kept under effective control and supervised the whole time. Agility equipment gives working breeds a job, and there are water taps with bowls, bag dispensers and bins on site. Taps can run dry in summer, so bring your own water as insurance.

Max: the two-pen setup is the whole trick. A dog that reads other dogs badly does far better in the small pen on a quiet weekday morning than on the main run at 5pm.

Worth knowing

The reserve runs to a 24-hour opening, so keep the noise down late for the houses backing on, and leash up and step out if play tips into snapping. Shaded seating and a picnic shelter mean you can sit while the dog works, a small luxury at a Queensland dog park. The playground areas around the reserve are dog-free.

Getting there and parking

Come off the M1 at the Ormeau exit and follow the local streets to Vennor Drive, where street parking alongside the reserve is usually easy. Ormeau Station on the Gold Coast line is the nearest rail access, though it is a moderate walk or a quick drive from the platform.

When to go

The park bookends the workday: roughly 6.30 to 8.30am and 4.30 to 6pm are the peaks. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is the quiet window, and in the hotter months go early or late and skip the middle of the day entirely.

Close by with the dogs

Maidenwell Park Fenced Dog Park is the second fenced option in Ormeau, and Pimpama Fenced Dog Park is one exit up the motorway. At The Willow Tree Cafe is the local dog-friendly coffee stop for the drive home.
