Maidenwell Park Fenced Dog Park

Maidenwell Park is a quiet, fully fenced off-leash dog area at 8 Auburn Court in Ormeau, on the northern Gold Coast. Tucked into a residential pocket and open 24 hours, it is a solid low-key run rather than a destination: shade, water and a secure fence, with none of the crowds of the bigger dog parks along the M1 corridor.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with good shade coverage, bench seating inside the fence, a drinking fountain and water tap, and dog bags and bins provided. There is also a designated obedience training area, which is unusual at this size of park and handy for puppy work. Off-leash applies inside the fence only; leash up everywhere else, and keep dogs well clear of the children's playground where penalties apply. City of Gold Coast rules require the handler to stay in control, dogs to wear current registration tags, and regulated or declared dangerous dogs are not permitted in off-leash areas.

Worth knowing

It is compact and simple, no agility gear, just space to run, and there are no public toilets or barbecues, so plan accordingly. The park is genuinely quiet most of the time: Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings are the calmest windows, which suits timid dogs or one still learning park manners. Busier stretches are Sunday evenings, Wednesday mornings and Friday to Saturday afternoons.

Max: bring the training lead even if you do not plan to use it. The separate obedience area is the quietest patch of grass here, and it is wasted on anyone without a leash in their pocket.

Getting there and parking

Reach the park via Eggersdorf Road into Auburn Court, with street parking on the court itself. Ormeau station is the nearest train, but the park is a short drive or bus trip from there, so most visitors arrive by car.
