Pelican Waters Dog Park

The Pelican Waters Dog Exercise Area is a fenced, off-leash park inside the Pelican Waters community, built with 1.2 metre chain wire fencing and self-closing gates so dogs can run without a lead in a properly enclosed space.

The rules: dogs must stay under voice control and be supervised at all times. Close the self-closing gates behind you rather than assuming they latch on their own. Pick up and bin all droppings. Regulated dogs are not permitted in off-leash areas, and dogs must be leashed anywhere outside the fenced exercise zone.

What's there: a shaded shelter with seating, a water tap with a dog bowl, concrete access paths, shade trees and rubbish bins. It is a modest, well-kept suburban setup rather than a large regional dog park, so temper expectations if you are after big open running space.

Getting there: the park sits off Pelican Waters Boulevard with on-site or street parking nearby. Buses serve the wider Pelican Waters area but a car is the practical way in for most owners.

Nearby with the dogs: cafes in the Pelican Waters Shopping Village allow dogs in outdoor dining areas, and pet-friendly holiday parks and rentals are available around Golden Beach and Pelican Waters if you are making a day or weekend of it.

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the quiet windows; weekends and the dog-walking rush either side of work hours draw the biggest crowds. Good for owners after a secure, no-fuss off-leash run rather than a swim, since this is an inland fenced park, not a beach.
