Little Mountain Common Fenced Dog Park

Little Mountain Common Fenced Dog Park is a large, fully fenced off-leash area at the northern end of Little Mountain Common on Raintree Boulevard, one of the better-equipped dog parks on the Caloundra side of the Sunshine Coast. Separate zones for small and large dogs, agility gear and mature shade trees make it worth the drive even if you do not live nearby.

The dog setup

Both dog zones have ramps and low obstacles for informal agility play, shelter sheds and benches, and water fountains or bowls for dogs. The double-gate entry stops dogs bolting while you get the lead off, and it is open around the clock.

Standard Sunshine Coast Council conditions apply: dogs stay on lead until you are through the gates, then under effective voice control. Pick up after your dog, keep dogs in heat away, and declared restricted or dangerous breeds are not permitted off-leash here. Dogs also need their council registration tag on the collar.

The vibe

The park backs onto the wider Little Mountain Common, which adds a playground, skate park, toilets and an 800 metre bitumen loop path if you want to extend the visit beyond the fenced area. Early mornings and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds; mid-week late mornings to early afternoon are the quiet window.

Max: check which side is the small-dog zone before you let go of the lead. The two areas run side by side and it is easy to walk into the wrong one with a big dog in tow.

Getting there and parking

There is a free paved car park directly off Raintree Boulevard, with pedestrian entries off Earls Court and Phar Lap Court if you are walking from the surrounding streets. Bus stops on Sunset Drive and Raintree Boulevard are within a short walk, but this is really a drive-to park for most visitors.

Close by with the dogs

Meridan Downs Off Leash Dog Park is the other local option in Little Mountain, and Ridgehaven Park Fenced Dog Park in Currimundi is a similar fenced setup a few minutes south. For coffee, One Table Cafe takes dogs on its outdoor tables, and the Currimundi Beach dog off-leash area covers a saltwater session.
