Mummy's Cafe

Mummy's Cafe sits in the Aura estate at Bells Creek, close to the Baringa and Aura Central Park pathways, and it has quickly become one of the more relaxed dog stops on this stretch of the Sunshine Coast. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor veranda, and the cafe keeps a jar of dog biscuits behind the counter for exactly this purpose.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor, partially covered veranda tables, on lead. Ask for a biscuit or a puppuccino; both are offered on request, which is a genuine welcome rather than mere tolerance. Water is available but carry your own bowl to be safe on hot days. The fenced kids' play area next to the veranda means a busy, sociable scene, so a dog comfortable around children does best here.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen runs a solid brunch menu with a good spread of vegetarian and vegan options, plus the breaky burger and calamari salad regulars keep ordering, and the mango matcha has a following. Hours run 6am to 2:30pm weekdays and 7am to 2:30pm weekends. Go early on weekends if you want a table; this one fills fast with the pram-and-paw crowd. Hours can shift seasonally, so confirm before a long drive.

Getting there and parking

The address is 1 Tucker Street in the Aura estate near Caloundra. Parking is free in the car park and on the street, and the paths in from parking are flat and easy for prams and dogs alike.

Make a day of it

Aura Central Park is close by for a pre- or post-coffee walk on the estate's network of paths, and the two fenced zones at Ridgehaven Park are a short drive east for a proper off-lead session. Penny G's Coffee at Currimundi is the next dog-friendly coffee stop toward the beach, and Cartel Co. is the suburb's other eating option with the dogs.
