Dog off leash exercise area

This off-leash exercise area is the northern end of Paradise Point Parklands, on the corner of The Esplanade and The Sovereign Mile. It is a grass-and-foreshore zone on the Broadwater where dogs can run off-leash and reach calm, shallow water.

The rules. Only the northern end of the parklands is off-leash; the rest of the park is on-leash. Lead your dog on before you enter and as you leave, and keep it under effective voice control. Dogs are not allowed in the children's playground or the swimming enclosure. Bins and bag dispensers are provided, so clean up as you go.

What's there. Drinking water taps, waste-bag dispensers and bins, seating, and some tree shade. Public toilets and BBQs sit in the wider parklands, and there is direct sandy access to the water.

Getting there. Park along The Esplanade or The Sovereign Mile; it fills early on weekend mornings. TransLink buses stop near Paradise Point with a short walk to the park.

Best on a weekday or mid-morning, and check the tide first, low to mid gives the most room on the sand. Good for sociable dogs that like water as much as a run.
